Heavy rains, flooding of rivers, no department is really spared from floods. In Vendée, the Lay, the main coastal river of Vendée which flows into the Atlantic also overflows like many rivers. In Mareuil-sur-Lay, it floods in particular the sports fields and overflows onto agricultural land.
