Lac de Souliers is accessible in just an hour's walk with a little less than 300 m of vertical drop. Arrived at the lake, the sun already bathes this adret slope on which stand imposing dolomitic limestone cliffs. It is only early in the morning, in high season, that one can savor a little solitude only disturbed by the awakening of a few campers who have settled there for the night. Peace also returns at the end of the afternoon in the presence of a few fishermen who linger. Around this all round lake, we can see the Pic de Rochebrune (3,320 m) which tear the deep blue sky. This peak of dolomite is visible in many places in Queyras and Briançonnais. With a little courage you can climb a steep path that leads to a panorama overlooking the Font Sancte massif, the highest point in Queyras, clearly identifiable with its forked summit. On the way back, one should not miss the discovery of the cargneules of the Izoard pass (2361 m). The erosion here has sculpted a unique landscape in the dolomite of the Côte Belle, called the Casse Déserte, a vast scree from which emerge red-orange monoliths in tortured form. The Col d'Izoard is also known for being a high place of cycling many times used by the Tour de France, two kilometers before the pass a plaque in honor of two great cyclists, Louison Bobet and Fausto Coppi, is affixed on a monoliths by the side of the road.
